Village Friends
Grateley Village Friends is a club for seniors in the village and surrounding areas. They usually meet up on the first Thursday of the month (except January and February) from 2pm to 4pm in Grateley War Memorial Hall, Station Road.

Floral demonstration entitled "Spring Surprise" by Marion Catt. This is the third event in the "Golden Year" of the Club. Visitors are welcome.

Win a Thornton's chocolate egg. Guess the weight of the goose egg, children's Easter craft, Easter decorations/Easter biscuits.baking, tea and coffee, as well as regular stalls. All welcome, including dogs.

Stockbridge Amateur Dramatic Society - From Stockbridge to Silence

With an age range of characters that runs from a 12-year-old boy to a woman in her 80s, the large cast comprises many familiar faces from SADS as well as several actors who are new to the Society.

“HMS Invincible: Falklands 1982” Talk by John Musters

Commodore John Musters, long-time resident of Longstock, will talk about his time on board the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible during the Falklands War: the preparations, how they operated during the conflict and how they managed a long winter patrol in the weeks afterwards.

Stockbridge Community Cinema - Toni Erdmann (15)

Toni Erdmann takes an extended look at the fraught relationship of a young workaholic management consultant (Sandra Hüller) determined to get on in her high-flying career, and her widowed father (Peter Simonischek), an irrepressible practical joker with a penchant for disguises involving bad hair and even worse teeth, who comes to visit her in Bucharest. A German comedy/drama (subtitled) which was the big hit of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and Academy Award nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.

La Serenissima - “The Vivaldi Legacy”

This year their programme is entitled “The Vivaldi Legacy” and contains a sonata for violin, cello and continuo composed but unfinished by Vivaldi, now completed by Adrian Chandler.

The soup and sandwich lunch is always on the last Thursday of each month. They are a jolly bunch, but the noise level is still bearable, and we enjoy a simple lunch together while catching up on local news.

Time: People arrive at about 12.30 and we start serving once everyone is there.

Fracking and the Countryside - Facts and Impacts

Caroline Dibden, an experienced petroleum geologist and a member of CPRE's national Fracking Advisory Group will shed light on the process and impacts of fracking in an illustrated talk which has been very well received elsewhere. The talk follows the AGM and social for CPRE members and would-be members.
