Information about the services we offer, including leaflets, guidance and newsletters produced for the public and businesses.


In March 2010, 1 acre of Glebe land off Church Road was leased from Winchester Diocese.  The Parish Council is lease holder, and the allotments are operated by a management committee operating under a Tenancy Agreement signed with the Parish Council.  The lease was renewed in March 2016 for a further 3 years.

Burial grounds and closed churchyards

The Parish Council is the Burial Authority for the cemetery in Church Road.  A map of the grave plots is displayed on the cemetery noticeboard and a copy is obtainable from the Clerk.

Community centres and village halls

The Parish Council is the Custodian Trustee of the village hall but the hall operates as an independent entity with its own management committee.

Parks, playing fields and recreational facilities

The recreational ground is owned by The John Lewis Partnership (Waitrose Limited) and leased to the Parish Council for a 25 year term from 6th November 2006 (revised lease renewed for further 25 years from 10th December 2013)

Seating, litter bins, clocks, memorials and lighting

The street furniture owned and insured by the parish council includes 6 noticeboards, 6 benches and the War Memorial on The Broad.  Street lights are insured by the Parish Council and maintained by Scottish & Southern Energy Contracting..

Bus shelters

The parish council owns one public bus shelter in Longstock, on The Broad opposite the Peat Spade Inn.  However in 2011 the bus service through the village was withdrawn.


There is no market in Longstock; the nearest one is held in Stockbridge Town Hall, 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Thursdays.

Public Conveniences

There are no public conveniences in Longstock; the nearest one is in Stockbridge High Street.

Categories of Rights to Burial in Longstock Cemetery    
  1. Any person resident in Longstock at time of death
  2. Any person visiting Longstock at time of death
  3. Any person no longer resident in Longstock but who had paid to reserve a plot in advance while living in Longstock, regardless of the length of residence in the parish
  4. Any person no longer resident in Longstock who did not pay to reserve a plot in advance but who lived in Longstock for at least 12 years in total in their lifetime
